LOSS OF A VENDOR
Little CoaChes Sun (and we called her Little Cochise) is gone; the mold is broken, and there will never be another.
Though she left this world Sunday afternoon, she leaves a wealth of memories behind from her earliest days of selling outside Dutch’s Market to the blanket on the ground in front of Coas Bookstore to the most recent: a vendor on a big purple tricycle pulling a cart/kennel which morphed into a display table that still held her very best friend, Miss Ricey. Miss Ricey is in a rescue for elderly canine ladies and is enjoying many treats with all of her attention.
Although we know that CoaChes chose her life on the street, she could never be called homeless because she lived in so many hearts—vendors, customers who returned week after week and year after year. She never stood on a corner and asked for a handout; she fussed at those who did—telling them to do something. And do something she did—dolls, horses, wood burning, cards, leather painting and always her jewelry. As varied as her talents were her stories, and while they were often amazing, they were always innovative and entertaining. Surely that talent and intelligence made our world a more interesting place.
Her ashes will be scattered, as per her wishes, on the land she loved at a later date. There will be a memorial in her spot at market on Saturday. We invite you to pause and say farewell in your own way.
Vendors that accept SNAP/DUFB tokens must personally pick up their checks at the EBT table. We will no longer give checks to employees/other family members/etc.
ALL Prepared and Prepackaged food vendors must provide an up to date Liability insurance certificate (proof of insurance), per P&P page 6, Special Requirements Chart. This includes pastries and popcorn. The date has been extended to June 15th. After June 15th, vendors that have not provided a copy to the office will be suspended, and terminated June 30th.
Per the Fire Marshal, all vendors that use any generators, propane tank (this includes the propane cylinders for heaters), or any other heat source are required to have a 2A:10:BC fire extinguisher. Additionally, Prepared Food vendors are required to have K Class Fire Extinguishers.
